Judge Hoskin was born and raised in Las Vegas. He graduated from Bonanza High School.
After graduating from law school, Judge Hoskin returned to Las Vegas and practiced primarily family law for approximately 18 years before taking the bench in 2009. He also served as the Presiding Judge for the Family Division for four of those 11 years. He has constantly worked to improve the court system for those who must utilize it.
Judge Hoskin is regularly asked to speak to attorneys and judges on legal and ethical subjects. He served on the statewide Blue Ribbon Commission for Kids. He currently serves on the Supreme Court's Children's Commission. He also serves on the Child Support Commission, which reviews the child support regulations. He has assisted in the revision of the rules for the family division through several committees.
The National Counsel of Juvenile and Family Court Judges recent completed a report on the Family Courts throughout the State of Nevada. That report praised Judge Hoskin's leadership while he assisted in moving such a busy court in a positive direction with limited resources.
Judge Hoskin is married, has four children and one grandchild. He has worked in family law, as an attorney and now as a judge, for almost 30 years. He represented thousands of clients as an attorney and processed thousands of cases since he became a judge. He knows the law, the procedures and the need for compassion and understanding in such emotional cases.
As your Family Court Judge, Judge Hoskin will continue to lower the cost of litigation through effective case management. He will continue to focus on the individual circumstances of each case prior to ruling. He will continue to manage his case load to ensure timely justice for everyone.
